OneMoreTune.ie meets Cranes
August 6, 2010
How the band evolved over 20 years, including their interested in physics in their music, their handmade lyric book “Till the Stars Shine”, the song that represents Cranes the best, one day in an Irish band…
I don’t think we would have continued for as long if we hadn’t sort of stopped and had a break and then new people joined…
Who: Alison and Ben from Cranes (Portsmouth, UK)
Latest record: Cranes (Dadaphonic, 2008)
Online: myspace.com/cranes and cranes-fan.com
Our favourite video: Inescapable
Where we met: The Burlington Hotel, the morning after their gig in Whelans
Why we like them: For the dreamy, sometimes obscure, atmosphere of their music
Behind the Scenes: Our interview was supposed to take place at Whelans, before their concert. However, when we got there, Alison told us that they needed more time for the soundcheck as a band member couldn’t make it to Ireland and they needed to rearrange part of the setlist. So we agreed on meeting the morning after at their hotel and let them concentrate on the new arrangements.
File under “Yet another consequence of the Icelandic volcano messing all the flights schedules up”!.
P.S. The concert was great anyway.
