OneMoreTune meets Wallis Bird

Dublin’s music scene compared to London’s, the love involved when being endorsed by Lakewood Guitars, her writer’s block and how the new album is taking shape through different moods and different sounds.
There’s a lot of love going into my guitars
Who: wallis bird
Latest record: spoons (universal, 2007)
Online: myspace.com/wallisbird and wallisbird.com
Our favourite video: blossoms in the street
Where we met: the button factory
Why we like her: how couldn’t we? she’s the best live act we’ve seen in years.
Behind the scenes: well, as you probably noticed from Wallis’ words, the interview was done around Halloween. It took us a while to post it..sorry about that. Anyway, there is no particular ‘behind the scenes’ related to that occasion. We got stuck in the traffic and, because of our delay in reaching the venue, we got only 5 mins left to do the (super quick) interview. Nothing much to highlight, really.
The real behind the scenes happened a month later, when we went to see Wallis playing solo at Crawdaddy (outstanding performance!). The first unexpected thing was spotting Lisa Hannigan in the audience (and if you’re curious about Lisa’s opinion on Wallis Bird, check this out). The second was..getting to know Wallis’ parents! This happened by chance as ourselves and Wallis’ mother were both in the Crawdaddy smoking area. We just started to chat about food and the weather (our main interests besides music) and we ended up spending about an hour with her and her husband telling us lots of funny stories. Great parents! In case you are reading this, guys, we hope you liked this video interview with your daughter :) See you at Wallis’ next concert in Dublin!
