The peculiar decision of starting a soul band in Dublin, the growing success along the years, the new album and its mysterious title, soul turning into pop and lyrics about evil in the Internet era.

.

Who: Republic of Loose (Dublin)
Latest record: VOL IV: Johnny Pyro And The Dance Of Evil (Loaded Dice, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/republicofloose and republicofloose.com
Our favourite video: comeback girl
Where we met: at RDS, after their gig at The Music Show
Why we like them: we first heard their music in a concert and it was a revelation. some journalist defined them as “the irish Outkast”. he might have been right.

Behind the scenes: we picked mick at RTE2 stand and went to the room where to do the interview. it took us 10 minutes to walk 100 meters (!) since every two steps he would be stopped by someone who wanted to have a picture with him. of course most of them were girls, but you wouldn’t believe how much kids love him :)
