OneMoreTune meets Nina Hynes
June 7, 2008
Dublin to Berlin: from the beginnings as a busker in Dublin, the International bar stage, to the latest tour success and side effects of buying a cheap van, today’s Berlin music scene, and Lulu Mae’s secret story.
I love Dublin when I can have it in little slices. It’s like a piece of a very rich cake
Who: Nina Hynes (Dublin, Ireland)
Latest record: Really Really Do (Kitty-Yo)
Online: ninahynes.com and myspace.com/ninahynesandthehusbands
Our favorite video: Lulu Mae
Where we met: at Nina and Fabien’s place in Berlin, Germany
Why we like her: she has an amazing taste for melodies and sampling, a gorgeous partner and a beautiful two months old baby girl. Not to mention that she managed to write one of our favorite songs ever, “Universal”. Anything else, Nina?? :)
Behind the scenes: We couldn’t interview Nina when she was playing in Dublin last November, so after a few months we decided to fly over to Berlin to meet her. Following the address that she texted us, we found out that Nina & Fabien live in a really lovely neighbourhood, right next to an excellent Italian cafe. Great choice! The interview was recorded on the day before their great concert with The Swell Season at Passionskirche.
