OneMoreTune meets Mugison
August 12, 2008
Malaysian karaoke pub nicknames, a break from the computer music and the beginning of the blues made in Iceland, AC/DC as Mugison’s uncles, why touring with Queens of the Stone Age is so cool…
Just hugs and rock’n'roll…
Who: Mugison (Iceland)
Latest record: Mugiboogie (Mugiboogie / Ipecac, 2008).
Online: mugison.com and myspace.com/mugison
Our favourite video: Murr Murr as played in Screaming Masterpiece.
Where we met: we actually met in the Village and then filmed the interview in a car park near Whelans.
Why we like him: because he dares sound different from the rest of the Icelandic music scene representatives (which we love, anyway). A few months ago he won three Icelandic Music Awards in a row (album of the year, best album cover and best video - for “Great Unrest”). Not too bad!
Behind the scenes: Mugison really wanted to do the interview outside, in a small and kind of desert car park where his tour van was parked (it’s the one you can see behind him). So we agreed. But after a few seconds of filming everything noisy that could come out, did it…cars leaving the parking lot, a fire truck (!) passing by, and even St. Patrick’s cathedral’s bells ringing! That’s called being lucky, man..! ;)
