The first time Saul Williams heard “Welcome to the Terrordome”, how Public Enemy and David Bowie affected his music and life, “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, cinema and art, and the allocation of funds in the music biz

I remember watching everybody dance [...] and I could not believe that everybody was dancing to what he was saying

Who: Saul Williams (New York, USA)
Latest record: The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! (The Fader / Wichita, 2007)
Online: saulwilliams.com and myspace.com/saulwilliams
Our favorite video: Saul Williams reading “The Pledge of Resistance” live
Where we met: ATP festival 2008, Minehead, UK
Why we like him: because he is an iconic dancer, musician and poet. And much more!
Behind the scenes: we had missed the opportunity to interview him while in Dublin on the previous week, where he performed at Whelan’s The Button Factory (thanks Jonas!). But we did not give up and managed to catch him while at the ATP festival! Our guest interviewer this time round was Julie: well done! Special kudos go to Jonas too for the inspirations for the Q&A.
